If you feel soft to the partner , there should be hardness inside ” iron wrap with cotton” (Old Tai Chi saying). If you feel hard to your partner, you should be soft inside ” iron pipe with water flowing inside” (Hsing I saying).
If your movement look straight, it should have many circles within. If your movements appear circular, it should have a piercing potential to hold and penetrate weight at any moment.
These old ideas sound pretty but I can work 10 more life times on these qualities and still just scratch the surface. Why chase movement?
Too often we see people using circles and flowing movements and we assume its soft and empty and too often we see direct linear movements and we assume the person is relying only on speed, strength and tension. Thats not true for the greats.
