It is important to have a clear goal about what you are trying to achieve with your research. Often, when people research without a clear objective, they become a "technique collector". You can know all the martial arts in the world, but if you are too afraid and you freeze in fear you will lose, regardless of your knowledge. Training therefore should not be merely technical, emotional considerations should be address in any realistic training program.
