If you are too tense and emotional when you cross hands for real, you will reduce your reflexes, perceptional speed, tactile sensitivity, fine motor skills, decision making ability, speed, accuracy, and power.
In short, your training will not come out and all those class hours and hard work will go to waste.
Therefore, one of the most important and yet neglected phases of training is emotional conditioning/ programming.
You can know everything logically in your conscious brain, but if the proper emotional response and self-control is not programmed or "hardwired" into your subconscious mind, nothing will change for the better.
The subconscious mind learns and gets hardwired through conditioning. This means that if something happens over and over enough times during class, it will eventually become a habit ina real fight.
This is because the sub-conscious mind, unlike our conscious mind, cannot tell the difference between real and fake, it is just an innocent computer.
If people are attacking you in class over and over again and you are responding with a degree of calmness and self-control, eventually, through enough reps it will become an unconscious habit even when it happens for real.
But this only works if the guy attacking you is attacking you as real as possible otherwise you are not programming a realistic stimulus.
The attacker should be as intense as possible while the good guy should work on staying as calm as possible. Don't be impatient it will take a few months even with top coaching.
